GREYHOUNDS IN ESTONIA
Although greyhound breeding in Estonia has yet very short history ( about 7
years), we, the owners of this wonderful race, are very glad to share our
experience with the greys professionals and funs from other countries
The first show class greyhound appeared in Estonia only in 1998. From Finnish
kennel“Wilheelmiinan” a very elegant, red bitch Molla-Maja
(EST&LV<&UA&RUS&BALT&INT CH; LT&LVJW99; EST< W01; BALT&LV W02; EST<
W04),owner Piret Koor ,kennel Chansonetest, has been imported. She has been very
successful in competitions both in Estonia and abroad. It was also Molla-Maja
who has given the very first “Estonian” greyhound letter in 2001. The father was
Int. CH Multi CH &MULT W Jet's Keep the Snake . The brood has brought four male

Owner Katrin Raie ,kennel Dragonhunter,Estonia, are the mostly showed ones at
the competitions.
After Wilheelmiian Molla-Maja, in 1999 we have received an Jailhouse Rock ,male,
from Norwegian kennel “Azravi,s” He is a wonderful representative of the
Scandinavian greyhound show type: got striking temperament, active competitor
and is a brilliant race dog. Going bit ahead, I’d like to mention that Azravi,s
Jailhouse Rock ( Int CH ,EST CH,ESTW 2001, owner Katrin Raie ,kennel Dragonhunter,Estonia)
has given a wonderful brood in my kennels.
In 1999, three months after I have brought Azravi's Jailhouse Rock, I have
brought my first greyhound from Russia. The father of the
Hepi Hepri Irbis ( male puppy) was a
representative of an English kennel Geysyde Christmas and had race dog blood on
the mother side. I have learned a lot with
Hepi Hepri Irbis ,( World Promise 2000,EST&FIN CH&KlW-02), We have been very
successful on the exhibitions and had a real good time together. With him I have
learned to train and exhibit this breed on the ring.
Getting more and more acquainted with the greyhounds, I naturally decided to buy
a female of show-blood into my kennel. And, in year 2000, I have flown in from
England, greys homeland, an absolutely wonderful, aristocratic, blue-brindle
Gayside Chrismas Magic. She
became an ancestor of many greys generations in my kennel.
Our first litter we got in 2003 and was the second grey’s litters in Estonia.
The father was Lv CH Eikica XXL( owner Lida Prokofjeva kennel Nice's
Greyhounds,Latvia) from the Denmark . We got 7 male , 2 female pappies. I kept
Ferrari – a male pappy, for my own kennel ESTET
CLASSIC. Today, Ferrari has turned into the intelligent, beautiful and strong
male. We successfully take part in various competitions. Other successful
“brother and sisters” of this brood are :

The last one has already sired three litters in Denmark and Germany.
In total, there are 5 champions coming out of my first brood.
On the May 25th this year, Geysyde Christmas Magic has got another 5 female and
3 male puppies. That is second litter in my kennel and
the third in Estonia. This time, the already mentioned, Int CH Azravi,s
Jailhouse Rock, become the father. At the moment, the puppies are only 5 months
old and I hope very much that we’ll get another portion of an excellent
representatives of this breed in Estonia. I’ll keep two girls in my kennels for
further breeding.
In the conclusion, I’d like to mention that there are already 14 greyhounds
living in Estonia. Still, it is too few in the comparison with the other breeds
we got here. One can say that greyhounds are still quite exotic here. However,
our dogs are successfully competing on the international competitions and
getting high recognition from the jury.
